Submissions
A submission to an external organisation usually responds to a consultation, or a strategy or policy document that has been put out for comment. It explains why the topic is relevant to divisions of general practice and Medicare Locals and conveys our relevant concerns and issues.
Some of our submissions on national issues are made to our national peak body, AGPN, whose board takes the state peak bodies’ views into account when they reach a position. On those occasions when AGPN asks the state peak bodies to collate divisions’ and Medicare Local's views in each state, GPV summarises the views it receives from Victorian divisions and Medicare Locals, including those that may not be in agreement with those of the GPV board. Divisions and Medicare Locals are also free to respond directly to AGPN if they wish (or any other consultation/organisation). If they choose to do this, GPV asks divisions to send us a copy of their submission, to enable us to stay informed and take into account our members’ views.
When time permits, GPV may circulate draft submissions for comment.
In the absence of a formal position statement on a topic, submissions can be a useful source of information about GPV’s, divisions’ and Medicare Local's views on policy issues.
Examples include:
Submission: GPV submission to AGPN regarding national organisation for PHCOs
Submission: GPV Input to Evaluation of the Victorian Hepatitis C Strategy
Submission: National Primary Health Care Strategy External Reference Group
